Once upon a time the area was supposedly was able to be ridden and not cared about. But now it is illegal, that is correct. They have looked at opening a SMALL section for open off-road use (trucks/atvs/bikes/horses/etc). We were involved with early meetings but things were not going well. The area they spoke of was so small and being in the city it would get way overrun and over used. Especially with allowing all types of off-road vehicles there was much discussion about the safety with the crowds. Unfortunately they didnt seem to want to open much land at all.. unless a tiny area was successful (not the best logic in my opinion considering what the concerns are). There hasnt been any more information of meetings about it for a while. Quite possibly a dead project. :(

ok so i followed the directions given from the site map and for one there wrong for 2 if its at the corner where childres and tiffany springs pkwy intersect then its illegal to ride there.. dont bother wasting the gas like i did...

My family and two other couples are going to finger lakes for labor day weekend. The campsites are going quickly (6 left). I need to know who is planning on camping there. I know I mentioned it before and had some that were thinking about it.

I know alot of people hangout with family on these holidays and I don't know if anyone had a chadwick trip planned that weekend or not (but gas is killing us).

The Corps has reopened deepwater as of July 8. Hopefully we don't get enough rain in the wrong areas to for a while.

I wish we could make our atv's street legal, can you imagine going to the store on one? what a hoot. well it's raining again, guess i'll just have to sit in the garage and imagine. little sahara , chadwick, randolf,, finger lakes , perry, oh well have a fun weekend no matter what you do

I would love to be able to make it street legal to ride... there seems to be lots of arguments about it without any real solid reasons why not.. I think the gas economy is the best bonus to help win over some who might be against it.

I don't get why it is illegal or why they are banning them. I think everything should be open to ride since the cost of fuel is so high. I wonder if we could get a petition started to reverse this law?

Please do not tell me it can't be done unless you show me proof through laws passed by the state.

I know the article is old, but things have changed (good or bad) since then and there are some states out there that allow you convert your atv to be street legal.

I am willing to give it a try, but I need to know where to start.

I called the Core and Yes, Redmond is not open,, deep water is not open either. Tuttle is high.. but ride able. Milford is prob also open. i would suspect finger lakes might be wet with all the rain over there, but it's possible. I'm thinking about chadwick also. leave Thurs noon. and ride Friday...maybe stay fri night also.

by the way everyone.. i got in contact with redmond reservoir.. the water level is up over 15 feet... sooo. . not only is the entire riding area underwater.. but even the parking lot and the road to it.. hahaha.. so that one is def a no.. unless we use jetski's :)

I am interested in riding that day, but I want to watch fireworks from the boat that night. I know perry has a nice fireworks show, but the ride area is small. Does anyone know of anyother lakes that have great firework shows. Tuttle Creek is way up right now also. Does anyone know how much of the ride area is open. If Truman lake has a good show I would be interested in Finger Lakes then head down to my inlaws then go boating. I could be down for Tuttle Creek then head home get the boat and head to Perry.

i ahve never been to fingers lake or tuttle
if we go to tuttle i could bring my explorer and play with quad and car the explorer is a cheap but good on gas (better than the super crew truck) 4x4 works on it and have not had a chance to try it out i will check with my family about redmond also

Yeah sskillett.. i had started thinking bout the water lvl when i was at work... since all the lakes are up so high, that entire ride area and parking lot may be underwater right now. lol

finger lakes might be possible.. . as would tuttle creek (my brother might be able to meet me out there that day).. at tuttle i could play with the jeep cherokee too..

Sounds like a good time. The wife will be gone during that time and I will have the kids, so that will depend on the kids as well. They might choose to go to Finger lakes sometime that weekend because it is closer us. Finger lakes has never been over crowd when i have gone on a holiday weekend.
